PayPoint wins New Company of the Year Award
11 March 2005

PayPoint has won the prestigious New Company of the Year award in the PLC Awards, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers in association with the London Stock Exchange and the Financial Times.

The leading branded payment collection network was picked as the winner for demonstrating both growth and management qualities and for being “a formidable growth company in the making.”

Dominic Taylor, Chief Executive of PayPoint, said: “PayPoint is delighted to have won this major award, which is a tribute not just to the company’s growth potential but all the hard work put in by staff.”

The competition, which has been running since the 1980s, is designed to reward excellence in the smaller quoted sector. To qualify, companies must be listed on the main market and not be large enough to qualify for the FTSE 100 or 250 indices.

Readers of the Financial Times were able to vote for nominees and their views were given a 50 per cent weighting,  equal to that of the panel. Nominations were made some months ago and a panel comprising representatives of the sponsors, fund managers and analysts reduced nominations to a shortlist of four in each category.

The awards were presented at a dinner on March 10.
