PayPoint to take Carphone Warehouse payments
16 June 2005

PayPoint, the nationwide electronic cash payment network, is to take E-voucher payments for Carphone Warehouse’s mobile network, Mobile World.

Customers have previously had to buy top-up credit for their phones in Carphone Warehouse stores or by making online payments using their credit and debit cards.

They will now be able to top up their phones as part of their regular shopping trips by making regular cash instalments at PayPoint’s national network of convenience retail outlets. Many PayPoint agents also have long opening hours, giving mobile phone users maximum flexibility about when to top up their airtime.

Top-ups of £5, £10 and £20 will be available.

Dominic Taylor, Chief Executive of PayPoint, said: “Carphone Warehouse is one of the leading brands in the mobile phone sector and we are excited about the prospect of working with them. Customers will find this a more convenient way of using their mobile phones as most PayPoint agents have long opening hours and we expect a high take-up of this service.”

Kevin Gillan, Group Director of Business Development, The Carphone Warehouse, commented: "An unbeatable product like Mobile World also demands the best top-up facilities for its customers. We chose PayPoint as our first solution provider because of its national coverage and superior strength in the convenience retail sector."
