PayPoint moves into home shopping sector with Littlewoods deal 13 December 2004 PayPoint is to expand into the home shopping sector by collecting payments from Littlewoods Home Shopping customers through its network of cash payment terminals in over 11,000 newsagents, convenience stores, supermarkets, garages and off licences across the UK.
Under the scheme, Littlewoods Home Shopping customers will benefit from the added convenience of being able to make their thousands of cash payments each week at PayPoint outlets as well as at banks and post offices.
PayPoint outlets are deliberately located close to customers’ homes and workplaces and many operate seven days a week with long opening hours, giving Littlewoods customers more choice about where and when to pay.
Customers will bring their barcoded Littlewoods Even More or Flexible Account statement to any PayPoint outlet, where the retailer will scan the barcode and enter the amount the customer is paying into the PayPoint terminal. Receipts are issued for all payments and the amount paid by the customer will be reflected in the new account balance when their next statement is received.
Dominic Taylor, Chief Executive of PayPoint, said: “This deal marks PayPoint’s first move into the home shopping sector, a significant new market for the company. We believe the service will prove popular with Littlewoods customers, who will benefit from the added convenience of being able to make payments near their homes and workplaces at most times of the day.”
Alistair McGeorge, Littlewoods’ Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer our customers wider choice and better service by extending their payment options to PayPoint.” About PayPoint PayPoint is a leading branded payment collection network used, primarily, for the cash payment of bills and services and prepayments for mobile telephones and energy meters.
